Four Common Sense Tips for the Telephone Interview

 by: Heather Eagar

Here?s a phone interview tip worth considering:
smile.
A smile is a magic thing, and in addition to being seen in person it can be felt from a distance.
When doing a phone interview, don?t think that because the person on the other end of the phone can?t see you that smiling and other positive body gestures are not important.
The best interview tip that anyone was ever given was to smile and make positive gestures.
In fact, many people talk with their hands.
If you do, consider a telephone head set to free your hands up.

Another tip that will be worth its weight in gold is to have a good quality telephone.
It may seem silly to even mention it, but the better quality phone you use, the better your voice will sound.
Years ago everyone rented his or her telephones from the local utility phone company.
These days people own their own phones, and while many people use good quality phones, many use the ten and fifteen-dollar phones they?ve found in the local dollar store or discount mart.
Those phones are fine for talking to your spouse perhaps, but for business use make a good business impression, and use a good phone.
Add this tip to the mix as well: use a landline with a cord, and not a cell phone or cordless phone.
Dead batteries, crackling sounds, bad cell sites, and weather interference can make you sound bad at the other end, and you may not even know it.
When doing your phone interview you want to be clear and make a good impression.
Take this tip to heart and use a good quality landline.

I once received a tip from a headhunter who specialized in finding people jobs.
While it seemed like common sense, I realized that it was a tip of value, and recommend it to people to this day.
Do your homework on the company before your phone interview.
Do a search on the Internet using Yahoo, Google, MSN, Dogpile or any of the major search engines.
Look them up in an online database like Dun and Bradstreet or InfoUSA.
If you don?t have easy access to these online tools, go to your local library and tell the reference librarian what you are doing.
He or she will be glad to provide you with information sources that will help you seem knowledgeable when having your phone interview.

The last tip to keep in mind is to be yourself, and be comfortable.
One of the best ways to be yourself, and maintain comfort during your phone interview is to practice the interview.
Ask a friend to play the part of the boss.
Call your friend on the phone and go through a mock interview, answering all of the questions that you think the interviewer is likely to ask.
Mock trials help lawyers, and rehearsals help musicians.
It only makes sense that a practice interview will help an interviewer.
While it may seem silly, this is a phone interview tip you should take to heart.

Special Cover Letter Considerations for Teachers

Special Cover Letter Considerations for Teachers

 by: Heather Eagar

Cover letters for teachers need to emphasize qualifications as well as attitude.
Education professionals need to come into the field with an attitude of service coupled with a commitment to excellence and a desire to work closely with students.
It should reflect all of these points, as should resumes for teachers, and any other self marketing materials used by education professionals.

When writing one for teachers most professional resume writers and job counselors take into consideration the specific needs of the school or school system being applied to.
Cover letters for teachers are read by the school superintendent, principal, HR director and other education professionals.
Additionally in some school systems cover letters for teachers are read by members of the school board.
Since teachers are there to instruct and educate young...

The Power Of Words: Market Yourself By Adopting A Whole New Language

The Power Of Words:
Market Yourself By Adopting A Whole New Language

 by: Allison Nazarian

I think we all agree that gone are the days when we would mass e- or snail-mail tens or even hundreds of resumes just for the sake of telling ourselves that we?ve done all we could to find the right job.

Assuming that it?s fair to say that the right job search is all about the right job and the right employer, then how do you let the right employer know you are the right employee?
Really, when it comes down to it, the only thing between you and your next job is a few hundred words that, if chosen correctly, can take you places.

When it comes to knowing and using the right lingo, you?ll want to:

Do your research.

What kind of company is this? Do you know and really understand what they do? What is their culture, are they by-the-book or casual?
What ideas and themes do they embrace? What does their website, their...

Ten Ways to End Your Advertising Copy

 by: Robert Short

1. End your ad copy by telling people what will happen if they buy your product. Use your most powerful benefit as the example.

2. End your ad copy by telling people what will happen if they don't buy your product. Use a problem that they won't be able to solve without it.

3. End your ad copy with a series of questions they will always say yes to. They then will be used to saying yes when you ask them to order.

4. End your ad copy with a short review of your whole ad. Repeat all the major benefits and features they will receive.

5. End your ad copy with a deadline. Tell them it's a limited time offer and they need to order by a specific date.

6. End your ad copy with a powerful guarantee. Give them a lifetime or triple your money back guarantee.

7. End your ad copy with a testimonial. Use one or two of your customers' testimonials that is believable and that...

Teacher - Learn How To Write The Best Resume You Can

 by: Laura Adams

It should come as no surprise that there is a currently a shortage of teachers in the United States.
This unfortunate trend has been seen for well over a decade.
To compound the issue, recent labor studies have predicted that teaching positions will likely continue to grow faster than the national average for the next several years due to recent government regulations to reduce class size and increase educational accountability.
The need for teachers has never been greater.

Though this trend is good news for teachers on the job market, it does not diminish the fact that competition will remain tough for the most desirable teaching positions.
Competition is especially fierce for English, Social Science, Humanities, and Elementary grade positions.
Teacher will need to pay close attention to the presentation of their credentials, as...
