A sample letter to use as a guide when preparing your follow up letters can assist your job search, save you time, and make you look very professional.
Take a look at the following, and use it as a guide when preparing your own follow up letters.

Dear (use name),
I wanted to touch base with you concerning my recent application with your company.
Knowing you are busy I?ve enclosed another copy of my resume for your review.

Use this sample as a template, and change the relevant portions of it to fit your own skills, experience and interests.
Customize it, and send it out a week or ten days after you send out every resume, to each company that you?ve applied to.
Following up is a skill that many people fail to learn, and it can make all the difference in getting an interview.
Experiment with it, put sentences and paragraphs into your own words, and make it read like you wrote it.
Don?t get the impression that the letter must be used ?as is? without changes.
It is a sample, or a template if you will, and is designed to be a guide for you to follow, not the end result itself.
This sample letter can also be used when applying online through the various job bank services on the Internet.
They all have a place for a resume and cover letter.
A week or ten days after applying, it doesn?t hurt to apply again, using the sample as a guide in the space normally reserved for a cover letter for your second application.
In addition to the follow up letter, your personal marketing toolbox should include other essentials.
These should include a well written resume, plenty of copies on good quality paper, a sample cover letter you can use for customization, copies of your reference sheet, a salary history, plain paper photo copies of letters of recommendation from previous employers, a sample thank you letter to use after the interview, and a job acceptance letter template you can use when you get hired.
You?ll also need to practice your interviewing skills.
So you can see that while the follow up letter is valuable, there are many other things you need to have when job hunting if you want to look like the professional that you are.

The Power Of Words: Market Yourself By Adopting A Whole New Language
The Power Of Words:
Market Yourself By Adopting A Whole New Language
by: Allison Nazarian
I think we all agree that gone are the days when we would mass e- or snail-mail tens or even hundreds of resumes just for the sake of telling ourselves that we?ve done all we could to find the right job.
Assuming that it?s fair to say that the right job search is all about the right job and the right employer, then how do you let the right employer know you are the right employee?
Really, when it comes down to it, the only thing between you and your next job is a few hundred words that, if chosen correctly, can take you places.
When it comes to knowing and using the right lingo, you?ll want to:
Do your research.
What kind of company is this? Do you know and really understand what they do? What is their culture, are they by-the-book or casual?
What ideas and themes do they embrace? What does their website, their...
Is the U.S. Dollar About To Reverse Course?
Is the U.S. Dollar About To Reverse Course?
by: Mike Fitzpatrick
For the first time in several years the U.S. dollar has managed to gain value against the world?s other major currencies. During the first three months of 2005, the U.S. dollar is up approximately five percent against both the yen and the euro. The gains for the dollar should be considered significant when considering the United States still faces a growing trade imbalance. So far this year, currency traders have shifted their focus from the United States? large trade and current account shortfalls toward the higher rates of returns being offered on U.S. debt. The recent strength shown in the dollar has somewhat shifted sentiment within the financial markets about the future direction of the currency. A Bloomberg survey released earlier this week shows that the major currency traders expect to see dollar weakness resume later in the year, but the sentiment among dollar bears is much weaker...

Word Resume Template ? Get Noticed in 7 Seconds!
Word Resume Template ? Get Noticed in 7 Seconds!
by: Larry Washington
A Microsoft Word resume template could be one of your biggest investments in terms of your career.
Why?
Experts say you only have about 7 seconds to catch the eye of the interviewer. Yes, only seven seconds!
A Word resume template can be a good way of accomplishing this. The goal of your resume will always be to get interviews.
Let me rephrase that.
The goal of your resume will be to get the job, but before you can get the job you have to get the interview. That's why it's important that your resume must be capable of pulling the hiring manager in and say to them:
?I?m the one for the job.?
When you can create such an "eye-catching" resume as this, any interviewer will view you as a must-have candidate for the job.
A Word resume template will enable you to create such a visual appearance. You have your information - you just need to add...

Basic On-Page SEO
On-page optimization is often ignored by the top sites on Google - after all, who cares about a few percentage points when you can literally buy your way to the top of the search engine result pages (SERPs) with a bucket-load of inbound links?
Today I?ll discuss a bit about why, contrary to common practice, why on-page SEO is so important and then tell you how you can quickly optimize your web pages even if you have very little time!
On-Page SEO - The Benefits
A lot of webmasters (including some self-proclaimed SEO experts) claim that on-page optimization is obsolete - that the only thing that matters is off-page optimization (i.e. link building).
So is that true?
Actually, like most SEO hype, there?s some truth involved. Inbound links have become the overwhelming determining factor in a website?s...

Four Common Sense Tips for the Telephone Interview
by: Heather Eagar
Here?s a phone interview tip worth considering:
smile.
A smile is a magic thing, and in addition to being seen in person it can be felt from a distance.
When doing a phone interview, don?t think that because the person on the other end of the phone can?t see you that smiling and other positive body gestures are not important.
The best interview tip that anyone was ever given was to smile and make positive gestures.
In fact, many people talk with their hands.
If you do, consider a telephone head set to free your hands up.
Another tip that will be worth its weight in gold is to have a good quality telephone.
It may seem silly to even mention it, but the better quality phone you use, the better your voice will sound.
Years ago everyone rented his or her telephones from the local utility phone company.
